I'm trying to get my new fish finder mounted and want to know if the skeg on my trolling motor will interfere with the transducer images.

I would turn it around and put just a little closer toward prop.

Do DSI transducers have to be pointed a certain way? I would feel better with the wires away from the prop but the directions showed them toward the prop.

Wouldn't the image displayed on the screen be the wrong way?

The skeg will not interfere due to the proximity of the transducer. Your issues with mounting it on the trolling motor will or could be any of the following: 1.) current interference 2.) damaging the xducer 3.) the side imager will be slow to "catch up" after the tm turns 4.) pinched cables. However it can be done if precautions are taken to eliminate the above.

I don't know what unit you bought, but I usually recommend mounting the si xducer on the back of the boat as their main function is to search broad paths of water, which usually coincides with running the big motor.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions and good luck!

On DI and 2d it's not going to make any difference and if it is side image your unit should have a function where you can reverse the image to get your left right correct. I'm assuming this is a DI ducer. My concern is getting cable away from prop and reducing the amount of cable that could get snagged on something. If you fish a lot of stumps and water with hazards invest in some kind of transducer saver to protect it from damage.
