Please don't take offense!
But...
I just don't get it... Where is the fun?
No thump!
Or is it strictly about putting meat on the table?
It's like fishing yoyos... A pile of fish is great, but it kinda takes the sport out of it IMO.
I fish brush, trees, grass, well.. Any type of cover. I have NEVER trolled..
Am I missing out on something?
Is there a successful single poler that has made the switch?
Again, I mean no disrespect, just wondering what all the fuss is about..

Youre gonna drum up more pro-spider riggin folks that take your "I dont get it" quote as a disrespectful quip against their sport than you can fend off. Lots of people dont understand why some hang yo-yo's, some dont understand the man that sets trot-lines, some wonder why I like to ride an air chair. People of all walks of life are all created equal.
I used to single pole and still do occasionally and am successful at it but now i mainly spider rig and u dont always catch more fish than single polin by i can consistently catch fish and all i have to do is kick back and troll around and watch those poles and watch my ff and dont worry bout fightin around a treetop and gettin hung up.. i can drink a cold one and smoke a cig and pull in the fish and ad far as the thump goes i can have my foot on my rod holder and feel the thump almost every time... nothin like lookin off in the woods and relaxin and feelin tht thump and look down and see a pole goin crazy then before u can get tht one in another pole goes off
And as far as being easy thts absolutely not true its alot more difficult to control 5 poles rather than jus one no doubt about it
Spiderrigging has caught on like wildfire. It has helped the poor to average fishermen catch more Crappie. I usually catch plenty jigging . I really hope the commission wakes up and puts a pole limit on before they hurt the resource. I fished to day and spiderriggers had the pole fishermen bad out numbered. If I fished to fill the freezer and only went a few times maybe, but see same spiderriggers on the water daily. The Mississppi game and fish have put a limit on the number of fish per boat not matter how many in it fishing. Alot of states limit the number of poles and hooks. I saw one boat today that probably had atleast 14 poles with double minnow rigs on there? Dang 28 hooks should snag something!![]()

Poor to average thts pretty comical... in order to consistently spider rig and b successful takes alot more skill and patience then using one pole and easin a jig down by a stump. And u act like tge spider riggers are gonna hurt the pop. Last i checked theres a limit for each person so wut does it matter how u catch them.. my limit is 30 and i dont go a whole lot and i hardly ever keep a limit... but ur lakeside and fish all the time and pull limit after limt out and brag about goin to 150 brushpiles a day and fishin em and nobody gives u crap about how or how many fish u catch... iv watched this site for a long time and u seem to b the only one tht wants to degrade anybody who doesnt fish exactly like u so congratulations ur the best and everyone should b like u
And jigginpolejoe absolutely no offense takin here
x's 2 !!! LOL! I singled poled for more years than I can count.....caught lots of fish...had lots of fun doin' it. Spyder rigging is my method of choice now...for a lot of reasons I won't go into here since this point has been rehashed multiple multiple times before now. To each his own. You keep your single pole and I'll take my 6-8 and have a blast experimenting with different jigs, colors, depths, size, ect. If I only keep a limit anyway what difference does it make.....most of the time nowdays I rarely keep more than my wife and I can eat in a couple of days and turn the rest back.....I don't hoard fish and never eat them if they have been frozen. The only way I see that it will hurt the Crappie population is by putting more fishermen on the water...... MS put a boat limit on COE lakes and I can't see that as a bad thing...we only need to keep what we will eat anyway!!!
