Academy - Outdoor Gourmet 1-Burner Propane Fish Fryer Set
Price is good but thin aluminum or steel pots can burn oil very quicly and then don't hold heat like cast iron.

The cajun fryers are very nice but they will break the bank. The small one is around $300. If I were to buy one on a budget I would buy the one that largemouth posted or this one listed below. I like the taller fryers. I personally do not like to fry in the aluminum pots they come with so I posted the fry pot I use as well.

I use the GE brand, 3 liter, electric cooker from SprawlMart. Have had it for years. Love it! Cooks all the fish, hush puppies and rings that 8 people can eat. $39.99.

I will agree. I put it off for years thinking I could put something together that would work better and I would be happy with. My father in law brought me one day and said "here, try this". Man I wished I would have spent the money years ago!!! I do alot of cooking for the whole family though where i will cook 20 fish or so.

The 13" dutch oven and good burner will work if you just plan on doing small cookings. You will have to replace the oil regularly though. I found that the aluminum pans do not held temperature very well and are more apt to burn the oil/crumbs.

I have the Bayou brand cajun cooker, 3 basket model. I strain the oil into the jugs and store it in the frig., it's 2 years old, still taste and smells good. I've dropped fresh cut fries past the baskets, found them still fresh and hard when draining the oil.
I found a combo cooker at a carport sale for $10. Comes with a gas burner frame, alum. fry pot 7" high, charcoal pan, 2 water pans, 3 racks, electric element and a half bottle of gas. Bigger and thicker metal than most dome style smokers, porcilene finish. I've smoked with it some 12 times and still looks new. Not like the cheaper smokers that turn to rust after 2 or 3 smokings.
