    Guess it was my pride....

I took off and got her up to about 70 going upriver. A bunch of water turkeys started bailing out of the old cypress trees and I told the guy with me I was going to try to hit one as it flew across the river. Heck, bout the time I got to pulling up on it, that dang bird decided to eject some wieght so he could gain altitude. It looked like a AK47 was shooting in front of me from the pattern I was driving right at. It hit the left front and went straight across the drivers console (me included). Course this guy thought it was the funniest thing he ever saw. Got that crap in my beard and mustache. I smelled it for months after that. No more running at water turkeys now. Got rid of the boat after a few accidents and go slow now.

Naw. Me and my buddy found out that red Gatoraide mixes fairly well with Smirrnoff. We were just celebrating living through the day. The ladies didn't appreciate us very much.

This thread has me wondering how I have made it 57 years. I got more stories about my boat circling me out in the middle of the lake around midnight, falling out decked out with coveralls and jacket to sink like a rock, rattlesnakes trying to bite me in the nose, sows chasing me up a tree, bullet holes in my coat, ETC.

Back when I used to bass fish I caught a white bass on a top water bait that had three treble hooks. I have a poor grip in my hand due to some surgeries anyway dropped the fish buried two of the three hooks in my calf and it flopping on the third. After my buddy stopped laughing he helped me out. Sure glad crappie don't bite top water and I need better friends. Lol

this is the most entertaining and enlightening thread I have read...I do not feel as stupid about my self inflicted wounds...I have suffered from nearly all these except the collateral damage from the gas motor...anyway thanks... nearly all of you have made an old man laugh...

Has anyone mentioned luck ? was boating across a big lake (Tawokoni) in north east tex. with a good friend and the weather was terrible ! waves had to be 4-5 foot. This was a large walk-thru boat. I looked back and the troll motor battery (that was not attached) had slid all the way to the back of the boat, fell over , and WELDED itself to 6 FULL gallons of gas . (old metal tank) !!!! somehow we managed to brab both at the same time and throw them overboard with one big chunk .............whew , was prolly the luckiest day i ever had !! if that tank would have been less than plum full , i wouldnt be here today. whew, chills just rethinking about that one.
