Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped out. Had a much better day today. Ran some yoyos we had left overnight and caught a couple. Then moved over to caney and ended up getting another 7 in just a couple hours. Even had a real nice 2 1/4 pounder.

Welcome to the site...Search my threads started posts you should find everything you need for year round. Right now I have been catching most my fish dipping and dunking along gold creek coves in the evening with bright colored jigs and a crappienibble. Most times the bite gets better after dark, I use a dim light just enough to see where I am dipping... TOO Bright spooks em.. Most times i have just about 2-3 feet of line hanging from the tip of my pole. Good Luck

Glad to hear you did better today. Caney is a good spot, gets a little crowded sometimes though.

Thanks Conwayslabber. Yeah it gets really crowded but I was somewhat familiar with the area from duck hunting and it was close and easy to fish. It felt good to finally get a couple bites. As soon as I got one I was able to look around and duplicate the structure. It my TM battery wouldn't have died on me prolly could have caught several more.

I had that problem myself with this 55lb thrust I got, I bought another battery and have had no problems since then! Did you go under the bridge at Caney or towards the bay?

I went under the bridge. I just kinda went past everybody and started fishing. The further I got back down towards the bridge the bite seemed to get better. Any idea on what another big rain will do to em?

I've caught a few good messes of crappie in gold creek in Febuary on gold creek. We mainly use pink minnows and slip cork. Very slowly around structure. Most times we just tie up and set a few lines out and wait um out. I get frustrated too quickly with jigs.

I have also been doing good over on lol maumell river. We put in at 2 rivers park and Moter up past the boat docks. Then fish out way back. Best luck has been around trees that have fallen into river.

    Good luck

Anytime we get a big rain like this Caney is gonna be flowing pretty good and really muddy. Gotta get that place a few days to clear up after a big rain. As far were the fish are at Caney, it really depends on the temp. The colder it gets, the further back the fish are. Caney is always the best when things start cooling down after summer.
