Thread: First crappie on a jig

I wanted to fish blue mountain today but with the uncertainty with the weather I decided I would stay close to home and fish clear creek. I am new to jig fishing I normally only fish minnows but I left the minnows at the bait shop and decided this would be a learning trip. I didn't get to fish long due to the rain but caught 3 crappie. The one in the picture was the only one with any size to it. A 13 inch crappie for my first jigged crappie made my trip worth it. By the way that is a black and chartreuse crappie magnet in his lip but I must say the bobber that came with it left me wondering. What are the black tubes for and how was I suppose to get the string though them once inserted into the bobber...I am sure I did something wrong! By the way I never have caught a crappie in that creek before so it must have been the jigs that made the difference.
