It is a fairly simple task to catch a limit of crappie most any time, year round (winter, spring, summer, fall) on the lake! I catch thousands a year and some humdingers at that!
If this lake was any better I wouldn't know what to do!

Matt, thank you very much for returning my phone call. I truly enjoyed talking with you. You are obviously very, very knowledgable about the condition of central Arkansas lakes and streams and the fish population within those waters. I found you to be very interested and dedicated to improving fishing for all to enjoy. My hat is off to you!
This has been an eye opening thread for me, a guy that has only fished Conway a couple time. I appreciate the opinions and replies but I am more happy that, at least in this case, there is somebody in a position of responsability willing to step up and be willing to answer questions and publicly put their information out there.

Smackwater Jack, the goal of the water management plan is to maintain the water level at 262 feet msl from November 15th to March 15th and at 263 feet msl the rest of the year (March 15th to November 15th).
Lately we have been inundated with calls about the water level managment on Lake Conway. Matt Hroton, the District 10 Lake Manager, wrote a an informative story for the Log Cabin Democrat that explains water level management on Lake Conwway and some of the related issuses. I had never seen a carppie come out of pickthorne.
I have caught a few here and there, but never any numbers. I have seen some slabs come out of there in the spring. It is a pretty decent Bass lake though.Quote:
