Default Found A bunch of small fish today

The wife and I went to lake earling this morning found fish in about 20 to 25 ft but they were all small Im talking 8 to 6 in small, so I moved to 18 to 14 ft of water and could not get a bite, so went back to deeper water and the same small fish , only way you could get a bite was foot or two off bottom tried suspended fishing and nothing. My question is if you know your in crappie but all you bring up is smalls ones what are some tips on pulling good fish up. Forgot to mention changed jig colors and size also all they seemed to want was a pink and white tube.

A lot of times fish will school with fish the same size. You just need to move and find some more fish.

I have experienced this several times. Once at Nimrod, caught hundreds, all look like they came out of the same mold.

Just leave em' be and find a new hole.
You can't catch the biguns' if they are not there.

    Default cookie cutter fish

Crappie and walleye hatches seem to flock together. Change schools/depth deeper = bigger.

location location location if the fish are small and you are not enjoying the catch change locations and tactics I live on Erling and have been catching better fish at shallower depths but unable to catch more than a few on any given day I prefer quality over quantity but thats just me. I saw some good catches of quality fish that came from shallow water out of bodcau creek near blackwells landing.

Most of my better fish have been at 10 ft depth and a few have been 3ft expect them to be shallow soon all females are full of eggs not seeing many males but know they are close.
