    We tight line minnows alot and when the bite gets slow we ll try letting it go to bottom and set. Sometimes that's where they are right on bottom....

    When the cork lays on its side, it my be an indication the crappie grabbed the bait and then raised up in the water column causing slack in the line and the float to
    lay down. If the cork had been upright and then lays down, set the hook, you probably have a bite

    Default Agreeing with Bama S and Nimrod

    The bites I've gotten in the last month have been dragging my jig on the bottom or short "crow hops" 24 to 40 feet deep. I guess when the crappie are that low there's no way to go but up.
