Here are a couple of pics that may show you how close you are. The boat is a Wareagle 542 and I have been told that I can't get any more out of this boat. The standard fishing configuration back to front is 4 pole home brewed rod holder on the port side of the back seat that doubles as a mount for a hb 798 and also doubles as the tip holder for the rod racks while in transport. Left side is the 2 layer rod racks over top of the gun box. Which remove with 2 pins. The lid of the gun box opens right underneath the lower rack of rods. At the start of the lower deck is the 2 home made mounts we have been talking about. On the front deck is a 4 pole driftmaster with a home made mount for a HB 718 At the very tip of the bow is a Terrova 55 on a raised mount. In transport this lays back over the top of the driftmaster and one of the rod holders can be adjusted to support the shaft. There is not much wasted space. The person fishing the bow usually my wife can easily fish 6 or 8 poles all within easy reach. If I am solo, I like to get a 5 gallon bucket of minners up between my feet so when the fishing gets really slow I can watch them and not be bored
Here is the port side front showing how much room you have with the rods racked. Unracked, you have a little more room. Some times you have all this junk and really all you need is a zebco and a 5' rod.
