    Default Culling fish????

If you are not tournament fishing why would you cull fish? If its big enough to go in my livewell its sure big enough for me to take home and eat. I understand being one fish short of a limit and keep fishing till you keep a nice one but don't understand culling a 10-inch fish for a 12-inch fish. If you didn't want the 10-inch fish in the first place just let it go. No need causing undue stress to fish if it can be helped...... What do you guys think?

Does'nt hurt in a good livewell in cool weather. In hot weather we can't cull because we use ice chests then.

I only cull if the fish are in good shape...There have been times i have caught a limit of good fish and then run into big fish. If the good fish are in good shape i will cull for bigger fish. This is rare for me most times. I will never cull dead fish for bigger fish...just cant do it not to mention it's illegal and a waste of Game fish.

I'm kind of the same mind set as you Handi. Different strokes for different folks but if i keep it in the first place then it's going home with me.

Good example fish get a break and rest from being pulled out of deep water. I leave them in my livewell with a air pump for several days sometimes before cleaning. They look in better shape after they adjust to pressure change and rest. I use only jigs these days so I have mostly lip hooked fish, unlike at times when I used minnows years ago had some swallow hooks.

I cull fish 10" or less. Sometimes I will keep a black crappie under 10" if it looks like a football. Were I fish I dont get close to a limit. 2 people 100 fish is a lot of fish to clean. Some of the lake I fish if you dont keep 10 fish you wont leave with many.

I don't understand this term you use "cull". Does it mean to throw a fish back? What is that? Once a fish is in my "live well" (read cooler full of ice), it will soon be going to 1 of 2 rapid weight loss clinics, and then off to either Lake Crisco, or Freezer Camp.
