I never use bottles on mine , but then here most I sink are in 6 to 10' of water. I never want any string , rope or cord on them to hang my jigs. Hopefully if placed in right spots they will pay off.

All in all I think I've made 13 places, even pitched a few rocks in to make rock piles for the green carp. I fancy catching a few of them from time to time. It was tougher today since it was a pretty day and folks were out and about everywhere running back and forth. If they seen me standing on the bank I just pretended I was draining the brine outa the old pickle til they past. I've tried tying pop bottles in some of the tops and I like doing it that way course I didn't have enough bottles so I was drinking em just to sink em, kinda like back in my drinking days. I dropped a minner in a couple of places but didn't give em very long and didn't search for fish since I was mainly brushing today.

Well I'm sinking in deeper water cause it's a deeper lake. I can relate to the shallower lakes and the need for shallower brush. If I'd sank in that depth of water this next summer most would be showing the way our Summers have been here lately. Some of mine will still show if it drops say 8'+ but most won't ever show. I like that 18-25 or even 30 fow depth. Now I did sink some for Spring fishing that are say 5'-10 or 12' range. I like hanging them tops in the top of tops already out there with the rock in the top, butt up and tied to standing timber/tops in the lake but that's not as easy to do by yourself and usually means loading them in the boat creating a mess. As for the part about getting hung in the string I don't tie in the very top due to that and it floating up in shallow water conditions where others can find it. I tie it about 3 or 4' from the top. I had thought about that already having had fish wrap me up like that before. Another thing that helps is when you lift after the fish takes it, lift up and out toward open water.
Hard work pays off. Sinking man made structure isnt easy.
I'd see those big boats go by and I'd just grab my junk like I was taking a wizz, lol. The easiest way would be if the G&F would break out the chainsaw's, barge with rope and just cut n drag all day long but that ain't happening.
