    6" back in the day for me, or less. Everyone in my area does this, and they all catch loads of fish. I don't get much of a thrill out of it anymore, so it's a thing of the past for me. But I did enjoy it in the past. WHen I'm jigging for spawners on cypress trees, they often take the jig seemingly a few inches after it enters the water.

    Dont be afraid to experiment...Early in the season ive seen my deeper YoYo's set of 2-3 feet out fish my shallower ones.

    Some days the usual tricks just don't fool them and you gotta work extra hard.

    I set several at different depths to get a pattern and then go with that for the rest of the night. Ya just never know but the 6 inches and up probably catches more fish day in and day out.
