Not ruling that option out...the 988csi and the 988cHDsi are two different models the later being acouple hundred dollars more expensive due to the HD through out the system...so if i could find a 998cHDsi for 1300 i would jump on it in a heartbeat... but i think it will be awhile before you see a 988c HD si model in that size that cheap. Also i just cant see paying 300- 500 dollars more for just a little bigger screen when both do the same thing. All your paying for is just a lil bigger screen which dont look like allot when you put the units side by side. I am looking for the HD model in a 988 or 898.

From what I have read the HD is just a marketing tool. Only difference in the new 998 HD and last years close outs are the new ones are backlit so you can see them easier in the sunlight. If bbg marine gets some of the close outs this month the 998 is hard to beat for $1300.

HD units are Ethernet capable. You don't need interlink.

Actually i believe the main and only difference in HD units and now HD units is Ethernet capability. Other than that they are basically the same. Think this applies to the 998's also.

    788 isn't Side imaging.

Dennis, don't worry about taking me fishing on Conway, my wife just had a stroke and is almost blind and I can't leave her for long. Sorry we never could get together. I had to freeze your steaks so now I can have a feast. Hope you and family have a Happy New Year. Know you will continue to catch a lot of slabs on Conway. Sincerely, Woodpecker
