    Default Fish finder problem

This is my first visit here on cc I have been learning alot from all of you on here. This is the best fishing site I have found. I just bought a new Hummingbird 581DI from BassPro, installed it on bow of boat transducer on tm. It powers on has temperature, and speed display but no sonar picture no depth display. Oh buy the way I fish Norfork mostly and Bull Shoals some. Thank you.

Are you just trying it at home or actually in the water? Is it on DI or regular 2d

Sound to me like u got a disfuntional transducer unless its in 2d. I know it's a dumb question but is it in the water. When I got my new di unit I sat in my boat for like 2 hrs playing with all the new functions and punching in GPS coordinates.

    Welcome from Conway.
I have a 581 DI and it sounds like to me your unit is functioning properly, what I am pretty sure your problem is, is that you have the sonar function turned off, when you turn your graph on and it first starts to boot up, you will get a function window, it should have three option, one of those options is sonar on and off, light brightness and I cant remember the third option but I think it has something to do with systems check, but anyways make sure your sonar is toggled to the on position. If this fixes your problem let me know, I have helped a couple other people with the same issue, get their sonar up and running.

Keep this number stored in your cell phone. Humminburd Customer Svcs. 800-324-1356. I've called it more than once and they have always resolved my problem while I was on the water.

Thanks everyone that responed, Lk Conwayguru I think hit it with unit being turned off.Called customer service today she said the same thing. Did not have time to go to the lake this afternoon, but I found on/off switch in the menu turned it on and reset to default. Tommorow I am going to the lake and try it out. This unit sounds like it has alot of bang for the buck GPS, down imaging, lake maps. I hope to find brushpiles and save the location on gps. Then maybe I will be able to catch more than 1 or 2 crappie per trip. By the way I did try it at the lake yesterday.
