Welcome from Star City. I've been fishing Cane Creek, but not catching. This is the time to catch the biguns. Maybe they will start if it will ever get cold.

It's more of a trophy lake......fish a week for that one big one to put on the wall. Just don't go expecting to bring home a mess to eat. You have to put on a different hat when you fish Cane Creek, LOL!!!

Meathead probably camped out there now! Watch out the rubber is a burning from his tires as he cant get there fast enough to poach some crappies with minners.

Why is this lake so hard to catch any numbers on... full of good looking habitat and timber...so why does this Lake not have more crappie caught off it. Geese I like to catch big fish but i cant see being bored out of mind trying to catch just a couple of big ones that may never come. Thats also why I have not made the drive. Any thoughts...Im guessing its full of too many predator fish like bass. This lake should be by all rights more than a trophy lake in my humble opinion and seems like it could be managed for numbers and big fish. The AGFC must not stock it for some reason. What do you all think?

russ, several years ago the agaf drained the lake to kill some of the moss and lilly pads that had about takin over. all water that was left was a small amount in the beaver pond it had all the fish hemed up and they did'nt stop people from fishing, they haul the fish out of there by the truck loads until there was not much left . the spillway was always to low and every time we got a big rain and the lake would rise the fish would go over the spillway by the thousands !!! the lake was full of predator fish also !!! and they stocked it with all them bass and never restocked the crappie !!!! until they drained it it was a decent little lake, it really is a shame that the agaf don't take better care of some of our waterways !!!!! like i have said before if it's not a turkey, trout or duck it don't matter to them !!!!!!!!!!!!
