    Default Favorite Jig Colors

Just wondering if anyone wanted to give up their 5 favorite jig colors to a new Arkansas resident. I need to make an order to monkscrappie.com and just thought I could try the best local colors. Thanks in advance for your help.

Jig head colors = Orange, Chartruese, Red, Pink. Not necessarily in that order.

Tube jig colors = White/Chart., White, Chartruese, Pink/Chart, Yellow/Chart, Orange/Chart. Not necessarily in that order.

Those are my favs, but I carry and fish with probably close to 25 different colors. Welcome to Arkansas, good luck !!

I have a lot just look at my storage box thread. Five colors would be black/chart, green/chart, white/chart, black/pink, & orange/chart. Meathead don't use jigs so anything that looks like a miner is what he uses. Some people will say color don't matter but I have seen days where it sure has made a big difference. Some lakes will produce with certain colors perhaps due to water clarity IMO.

When using Southern Pro Umbrella tubes I use the following.

1 . Any dark color (blue, black, purple} with chartruse.
    2. Some lighter color (pale blue, pink,) with white.
    3. Metal flake colors (silver, gold, or dark colors with flake) with chartruse or white.

I use purple metal flake / chartuse or blue / chartruse more than any colors.

Spanky in a hand tied jig is pink/chartuse that Meatgetter sells is a good bait also. It is about all I use when I don't use plastic, mostly use Umbrella Tubes.

Basically it boils down to dark or light colors , not real big into specific colors over another. You need confidence in what you use. I may have too much confience in the Purple metal flake/chartruse color but in 2012 I caught several thousand Crappie on that color combo alone.

I forgot to add, use unpainted jigheads and save yourself some money. Using jigheads inserted into tubes makes them last longer and no need for paint.

Why ya gonna call Monks? We have some of the best jigs right here in AR. Meatgetter Jigs, and Minner Critters (Meatgetter), and Slick Jigs (Creekslick) are some of the best hand tied jigs in the country, and they are both on the Arkansas Board here!!! We also have Southern Pro and Midsouth plastics, both here in AR.
