No offense Guru, but a female Crappie spawns about 10,000 eggs every year. I have fished lakes that didnt have much pressure and you couldnt BUY a Crappie over 7". I think the pressure is good for a healthy lake such as Conway and as long as two or three fish survive, it will continue to be healthy. I think the feelings of the fishermen are damaged way more than the fish population. JMO

90% of Lake Conway sees very little crappie fishing pressure fall through spring, and very little crappie pressure throughout summer. It is from this 90 percent of water that keeps producing slabs... much as it's done for the last 60 years or so... that find their way to the popular fishing spots year end and year out. With 6700 acres of prime habitat throughout the lake and so many places above and below the surface that cannot be touched with a spider rig, or jig pole, or yo yo. Fishing pressure in the popular spots is exactly what Lake Conway needs to avoid a stunted lake. A stunted lake, or pollution from run off and a nearby growing city, or a lake that has become silted in over the years and not being managed for silt or water quality is the biggest threat to Lake Conway. Not fishing pressure.
With that said folks who constantly try to discourage folks from coming and fishing Lake Conway are doing the lake a great dis-service and Don’t even realize it. I also think that these same folks are the same ones who trash talk the lake and can be seen launching their boat on Lake Conway the very next day. This just makes me wonder if they are acting out for their own selfish reasons. Keep posting CMJ and putting those Pic’s up and let others know about Lake Conway because you are clearly one who understands. Maybe we can convince some others there is at least 6000 acres out there to fish if they have a problem with crowds or pressure… not to mention all the other waterways nearby. JMHO
