Thread: Best line for casting

I recently bought a new rod for casting and am trying to figure out the best line for getting good distance. I have had bad experiences with using light line in the past, I am not good at finessing those big fish with light line. So I need something strong and light. I am thinking braid, but have had bad experiences with that too. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, anyone know of a good cheap reel for casting?

6# PLINE, And it depends on what kind of real, spinning reels i mithchell.

the nano is great for casting and will cast a mile, but abrasion resistance, knot strength, and visibility are awful

Visibility is not much of an issue as this rig will be strictly for jig and bobber casting. Knot strength is an issue though.

Nanofill,clear mist or chart in 10 lb test,.007 dia,12 lb test .008 dia, for heavy brush,rocks Propro 10 lb test is hard to beat.iNanofil is about $19.00 for 150 yd spool but it will last does not go bad from sunlight or heat.ProwerPro is about $12.00 for a 150 yd spool.This is what works for us!!!!!

Nanofill works great and cast a mile. I used the knot on the box and it worked perfect with no issues.

With the newer abu garcia revos and lews you can safely cast a baitcaster even in the wind if your wanting a long line.
