    Default Arkansas 2013 Spring Camp

    Questions about 2013 Spring Camp:

I am brand new to crappie fishing, this fall is the first season I've ever chased crappie, but thus far I've had a blast doing so. With that said, I'm also brand new to the forum, thanks to a friend I've learned a ton just being on here then going and trying what I've read on the water. So I'm interested in coming up to the Spring Camp this year but would like some honest feedback. Trust me, I don't have thin skin so you won't hurt my feelings. I'd prefer honest answers rather than infringe on anybody.... Read the questions and you'll see where I'm going with this.

    Questions:
    1. Can a person come with family or friend in tow and be a part of everything, yet not fish the tourney ?

    2. I've never fished Dardenelle even one day. How open are folks to showing others where to find fish on that lake ? I'm not looking for a guide per se, but in essence I'm kinda looking for guide. Ha !!

    3. If you're not entered into the tourney are the rest of the functions available to you ? I would assume there would be a per person fee if so. So if so, how much ?

    4. Probably the question I should have asked first.... Where can I find more details in regards to Spring Camp ?

    Meatgetter,

Thanks for the reply. Also thanks for your regular posts and comments on other's threads. I get a lot of information from your opinions and comments. And while I haven't tried the real "Spanky" yet, I have imitated it using Midsouth plastic jigs and jigheads in similar color combination and it is steadily making it's place as one of my "go to" rigs. A pink head, white body and chartruese skirt is still my first option, but a "Spanky" replica did outperform it on my last Gold Creek trip. I would love a catalog of meatgetter jigs and I'm sure an order would follow shortly after I received it. I can't commit to spring camp just yet, but I have good intentions of making it over. Hopefully all works out, as I would love to put a few faces to the names on here.

2X on what Meatgetter said. Was at the spring camp on Chicot and already have site booked for 2013 spring camp. I've been to a few of these camps including the ones we hold up here, and those AR folks know how to throw them down. Great people and a load of fun. Certainly no pressure on the fishing part. I'm gonna be fishing Dardanelle for the first time too so don't let that stop ya. Don't miss it!

Casey - we'll lead you in the right direction and you are guaranteed to have a blast. The camp is during a very good time to catch loads of fish and some good ones too.

The only thing you have to worry about is billbob and slab, lol.

You won't be the only 1st timer at this event. I've only been on the boards since February and have not had the chance to go to some of the functions. That's about to change. I've got a site reserved at Dardenelle for 5 nights. I have never fished it but I'm gonna spend a few days over there and put forth a little effort. I'm sure it will be a great time and I'm looking forward to it.

If you plan to stay at the camp ground, you had better call now. I am sure it is filling up. These camps just keep getting bigger and bigger. I will be a first timer to Dardenelle too.
Only thing I can warn you about is those opposed to putting a minner on their jig. I will admit that I am trying to break the minner habit and become a jig only type of guy. Do you have any recepies for left over minners?
