I am real not a fisherman. I took my two boy last year up to gold creek at Conway about 10 times. We never got any fish that we caught our selfs we did have man give us some that live there. Now I have been there 4 time in the last 2 weeks and still have not got any fish. I talking about so bad I can't even lose the the bait. I have tried jig from 6" to 4' in gold creek.i have try minnows too. I fish by the bridge and the creek with no luck. I know I may be asking a lot but could someone please tell how or what I may may try to catch some fish.

Gindog, go during the week if at all possible, Gold creek is really crowded on the weekends and the boat traffic really affects the fishing. I was there last Saturday and between the landing and the crappie camp there was easily 30 plus boats there early, they thinned out around noon or so, but the fish were already disrupted and never settled back down. And from what I heard for that weekend, there was a couple of limits caught early, you may try the 89 bridge area or the caney creek area on your next outing. As I don't know how or what you are fishing I can't give any suggestions on bait or tactics to try. If you go back to Gold creek try finding a tree top in the pool that does not have a boat sitting on it and fish with a minnow or a jig tipped with a minnow at around 4' to 7' deep under a cork.

Let me say that I have fished the pool for a number of years. The last two weekends were the first time back in a year. Last week I had 32 in the pool and today I had 20. Most of the time I see guys fishing and they catch fish. The key to me catching fish is in the brush near the bottom. Go into the pool, and start on the right point and start there. If you line up the back dock and the dock on the south side , there is plenty of brush and sunk materials. Today, there was a guy who pounded the area with a jig with little results. Finally about 930 he moved off and I stuck minnows down deep and had at least 8 good keepers. The brush always gets better as the sun gets higher and there is a breeze. I use 8 rods and have a field day out there. I'm in a xpress boat and next time come ask me and I'll show you where and what to do.
I went Thursday and Friday with the boys being out of school. We meet 3 boats coming out at 2:00 and them tell us they have limited out and us not even lose out bait with us leaving at dark. I will try the 98 bridge, but I don't know there caney creek is? It sad to take boys out and they not catch anything. They got burn out last year and I hope they will not this year. Either way catching or not, I love being with my kids.
I really dont know what else you expect me to do CA,,, but put the man and his kids in my boat? Ive posted several times on Lake Conway even with pictures of what i use and tactics. I remember several years ago I was interested in fishing Lake Nimrod and talked to you to two different occassions about fishing the lake and you bailed out on me twice. Where were you when I needed you? Geese...
Gin dog the advice you have been given above is spot on by Guru and Big Fishn. The only thing i can really add is verticle jig the cover and docks along the banks early and late in the day. Also making long cast with a cork and jig in the pool can pay off big time. I usually slow roll the bobber back to the boat with no action imparted 3-5 feet deep is a good depth to start with when bobber fishing the pools.

gin, if i fished the lake i'd have you and your boys follow me around or even take you several times and try to show them and you where and how instead of telling you. on the main page several begged for a forum for mentoring young kids and getting them into the out of doors. they are the future and i hope your boys do not get burned out because they don't catch fish.
