Thread: part two spidder riggin !!!!

when you get to the spot you want to fish stop before you get to it and get set up. we bait up and set our rods in the holders .we then set our lines at different depths to start. we use our gps and lake map to track the break lines in to the shallow areas. if we catch one we stop and fish the area out. the fish in shallow water are spooky ,that's one reason we use 14-16ft poles and another is to cover a larger path.fishing shallow water calls for complete attention to all of the details. some time the bite is hard they will pull the pole in the water past two or three guides but other times the bite is so soft that you may only see the line move or see a peck or jerk in either case set the hook. it takes full concentration! when the fish are finicky sometimes you can trigger a bite by a quick turn,speed up or down, stop, back up this causes the bait to rise then fall .grab the line near your reel and pull it up then let it fall at random intervals . placing beads and spinnder blades above your bait and downsize your weight . the best tip is to cover as much water as possible . big lakes are full of dead water . do away with as much dead water as possible. do this by trying to read natural signs,diving birds talk to local fishermen watch other boats and cover as much water as you can in a day of fishing.spread your poles as wide as possible,the side poles often produce better than the front poles. you must develop a pattern on the fish to have a successful day on the water. some times it takes several hours to several days to learn the lake. fish all depths from bottom to the top, if the water is extremely stained some times the fish will be extermely shallow in the water colume regardless the depth. it's better to fish too shallow than too deep. will continued tomorrow with the conclusion!!!!

I've been trying to learn spider riggin for over a year now and I just can't seem to get it. I fish from a kayak and use 4 poles. I have a Hobie and can just barely push the pedals and ease along not making any noise. I'm using two 9' poles and two 11'. Maybe I need to try some longer poles. I can't stand to fish minnows so I only use jigs. I'm enjoying these post.
