I am very interested in grasping the concepts of jigging---any good advice.-----my problem is I have so many jigs--need to narrow it down to a few colors and types.
Minnows is hard to keep alive in summer------
Any help or advise is appreciated in advance.

If you want verticle jigging help let me know. First you need a good quaility Graphite jig pole like a Ozark. I use 12' jig poles but length is a preference and many perfer 10 or 11' poles. Second is some good jigs like Southern Pro plastics or Meatgetter hand ties. For verticle jigging I use big heavy (1/8 oz) jigs on light line (6 or 8 lb test). This helps maintain a tight line to feel that thump! I fish mostly sunken cover , good gps and electronics is a must unless you fish visable cover. My best advice is to fish with a fisherman a few times that is a successful jig man. He can teach you more in a few outings than you can learn on your own in a year.

I encorage all you Jig Only guys to become more versitle and become both a Jig and Minner master. Part of your crappie.com training is to realize when a minnow will help, like clear water, dead of winter, clear bluebird day after a front and increase the profile of your bait for those big spring female slabs. Trust me there will be a time when you jig only guys will wish you had a minnow in the boat. Word Up!!! LOL
