Ar boating laws?

I do almost all of my crappie fishing from a wilderness commander 120 kayak/canoe hybrid and normally wake up early, fish for an hr or 2 before work. Now with my work schedule getting longer and longer I want to start night fishing a smaller no wake lake. Like I said I fish from a kayak and don't haveay running lights. I was wondering if anyone knew what the law was for that?I have no motor. Lights wouldn't be the hardest thing to install just want to make sure I'm doing everything by the book.

Here's q link to the boating laws on the agfc website. You will need to install lights. I think led would be the easier to Install on a kayak. I've seen some on the kayak forum here and I the net. Shouldn't be too terrible and the led wouldn't require a big battery. They are low draw. I have them on my bike with a remote control so no extra switch needed. Haven't read the book in a while, but last time i did, it was my understanding that a small boat with no motor on state waters only needed a flashlight on board. If you are on federally controlled waters you need navigation lights.

You will not need the red and green running lights but you will be required to have a white all around light behind you that is above everything in your boat. As said above most people use a good led light. Just make sure it can be seen from a long way off.

MB is right, being that you wont be under power you just need 1 white light in the rear.It has to be seen from 360 degrees. You might also look on youtube, ive been looking at kayaks for awhile now, there is a guy who took a small piece of pvc pipe (1/2" maybe) and made a pole and then glue a very small tap light on top. It seemed to work well, there are all kinds of ideas out there.

Wal-mart has the portable running lights!!!! run on c or d batteries have a set works great they are for front and back!!!!! they are clamp on!!!!

Haven't read the regs, but I would think you would want lights, front and back, for safety purposes, so you could be seen by others. Always read about boats having a collision with another boat that had no running lights! For that reason I would put them on, whether required or not. Just my .
