Spider Rigs
Guys,
I've decided to do some Spider Rigging. Ordered four poles, two tens and two twelves. Installed four good rod holders on the boat. I have to fish out of the sides since I'll be myself and my trolling motor is on the transom. My fishing partner joined the military. Figure I'll start at Maumelle since there's not much to get hung on there while I figure this out.
I built eight Capp's and Coleman style rigs. Figure I'll lose some while learning. My question is, how do you store and move this stuff. The rods are three pieces. I assume you break them down when you're done and ready to put them in them in the shop. What about the Capp's and Coleman rigs? Is there a good way to store them so that they don't tangle?
Man, there's a bunch I don't know about this, and I haven't even been to the water yet.

I see some that break their rods down after fishing, but many more do not. They simply "wrap" the line around the pole so that it does not get tangled and then place the hook in the reel seat or an eye on the rod to keep it secure. (Kind of the way bass fishermen store their rods with a spinner bait on it). Many people I know simply have an area in the boat with rod straps and lay their poles down and strap them in. I use extendable rods and break them down and store them in the rod box.
As far as multi hook rigs, I'll let someone else take that one. I have my own set up and I simply remove the 2nd hook if I'm using one. Most of the time I only have one hook per line. I normally use 8 poles, so I adjust the depth on each pole so that I'm fishing 8 feet of the water column from pole 1 through 8. That's what works for me. Everyone has their own way.
Getting hung and losing rigs is a whole new ball game. Sometimes I think I could get hung on a stump in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. Just be prepared.
Good luck!!
