    Default Beaver lake

Newbie here. I recently had a friend take me trolling for crappie using crank baits . The bug has bit me! Is this something that can be done year round? What other options do I have for catching crappie. Any hot spot's to try? Most of my fishing has been done around the war eagle and 412 area. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thx

Welcome from Cabot. Sorry, i have no knowledge of that area. I vertical jig mostly so im no expert on cranking, but i think the cranking season is winding down. Maybe you can get creekslick to give you a few pointers. Or do a search on this forum for cranking 101 and you will find all you need to know.

Welcome from Springdale. I spider rig some at Beaver but have never had great success there so I can't help you much. I prefer fishing Sequoyah or Bob Kidd.

Oh, one more thing. Cranking is EXPENSIVE and seasonal. There are other methods that equally effective and satisfying to get you started. Such as single poling or even spider rigging. This requires a lot of equipment as well but the baits aren't 5-12 dollars a piece and you can pretty much use this method year round. Nothing wrong with crank baits, just be prepaired to pay because you never have enough! This is the same with all methods though. I am about to have to buy another tackle box to store all of the stuff that i don't use!
