    Default Wondering about White River

Headed down there next weekend for three or four days and was wondering if anybody been doing any fishing down in that area. Not exactly sure where we'll end up. Thinking Maddox, or Scronges, Mellwood, East Moon. Let me know if ya know anything about. The rivers pretty low.

Rode my atv around last weekend. East Moon was a little murky but we caught them early with it about the same. The bushes across from the ramp might hold a few. they usually do. Rode through 6 mile campground nto Parish. again murky and low. There is a boat back in there not chained up/ Looks like nobody using it. Take a plug if you go. One of my favorites is Little Long Lake at the end of the atv road just past 6 mile campground. low and dingy( sounds like a stuck record). Mellwood looked low and the water color was fair. Nobody fishing it so that might tell a story. Sorry for negative answers but you might catch a boatload anyway.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

A couple of guys from our camp fished East Moon and caught a few small fish. They did not bring a fish out with them. I scouted around Escronges and H Lake for deer and ended up talking to a guy that had been in Escronges. He had 7 that might have been 3/4 lb each at best. The water didn't look that good to me as far as clarity, but like someone else said, you may love the water color and catch a boat load.

Mellwood is so low you can barely get a boat in it, if you are using Ron's ramp. You have to stay way over on the south side. The boat club ramp is okay as long as you don't back off the end of it.

I can give you a report from the Devalls bluff area on the White everything low! not enough water in the chain to float the boat. Take plenty of Beer and good luck if you try it
If it will hold cornmeal it's big enough for me !!!!!!!!!

Might be better off to take the ole compound bow and try and kill a deer. The lows in the 40's will have the bucks a stirrin
