I have been fishing Dardanelle a couple times a week and right now on a scale of 1-10, I give it a 2-. I did talk to a guy yesterday out there that was killing the big drum, he caught a 10 lber on his light gear. His name so happened to be monkeywrench. Dardanelle has had a monsterous shad hatch this summer and anywhere you stop you will see billions of 1 to 11/2" shad. It is hard to compete with the real thing. I give it about 3 more weeks to pick up and I will be there.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

Its October. Supposed to be the month of magic for many lakes? I haven't been on Dardanelle or any lake for a few weeks. Should I bother?

I don't know about Dardanelle, but it is time to start going. On some lakes they have already started feeding on shad, getting fat for winter

I dont know about the rest of the lake but Ouita sux big time. Yesterday I fished the bridges the drop offs the brush piles and caught one 13 inch, one 4 incher and two Kentuckys. Never seen it this bad. Last year we were whacking them good. All the locals have all but quit fishing it and are bass fishing. It is possible that I don't know what I am doing.

I doubt that, but I hate it sucks that bad! I was hoping for some good reports out of Dardanelle. Haven't heard back from Monkeywrench yet on how he did up there for two weeks.

Sounds like my last couple trips which is why I haven't been in awhile. Thought it was just my inexperience though. I was hoping this cooler weather was helping the bite.
