    Default Props to the pros

Well i think fall is finally starting to show up! No more fighting the spiders, snakes and mosquitoes jigging cypress on Conway! At least for a little while. Now i know why Crappiepro refers to fishing lake Conway during the summer as "doing battle." You can fight those elements all day long with very little to show for it if you are not a skilled and patient fisherman. But for some reason, i find myself wanting to go back even after getting skunked! So i have much respect for those who can consistently pull limits out of this lake from May to September. Crappiepro, lkconwayguru, Conway thanks for posting your successes. They have helped me immensely.

I went last week as well and also got blown off the lake. We fished Brewer that morning and did pretty good but the bite slowed way down. So we stopped by Conway on the way home. The wind was crazy so we didnt stick around.

I have not been since last Sunday, but the same holds true for the last several weeks, around the cypress tree, 4' to 6' deep, I have had my best luck on three different midsouth tubes, white/char with orange lead head, electric chicken (pink/char) with red lead head, and red/char with a chartreuse lead head. The more aggressive fish really knock the fire out of the jig, but the less aggressive fish have been biting real light. Experiment with colors but make sure it has chartreuse in it. I found fish in the thicker trees around the greens lake area, there are some fish holding on the cypress trees in the Peirce creek area, more so out in front of arkla bank and arkla dock.

Your welcome CMJ, The info Guru provided is right on spot also. Wht n chart has been my fav color by far. My fish are coming out of the Adams lake area towards Dix creek and the Three Creeks area by my house. Good Luck and stick with it. Folks think they can come out here and catch an easy mess, that's just not the case in the summer... You haft to put your time on the water. Best way to Learn Conway is keep traveling to groups of trees, fish them If you havent caught any after you fished the choice looking spots in the area... move onto another area of trees. After awhile you will get so good you will know what trees produces at what ever time of year it is. You will also be able to almost predict what tree or cluster your going to catch a fish out of. Stick with it Chris...and before long you will be pulling some of these out of those ole Cypress Trees. Never forget these swim in Conway and you will most likely catchem in the Fall, Winter, or Spring.

Thanks Russ. You're right, they're in there. I caught one that was 2.9 at Greens Lake back in Feb. i caught a few nice ones there this summer but not much consistency. My biggest problem is mobility i think. I tore up my outboard a few months ago. So i'm pretty much limited to whereever i put my boat in. I havent been able to chase them down like i need to.

Alot of people see the fish pictures posted from us Lake Conway guys and think that it is easy to catch fish from Conway, the Fact of the matter is that Conway is a real difficult lake to catch fish out of until you have the time and experience with the lake, Conway is a shallow water lake, and it is affected differently by weather than your deep water lakes, not to mention there is so much structure in the lake, with the amount of structure in the lake it makes it very hard for a person to get a read on how the lake produces its results. Like one of Russ's later posts said " target rich enviroment" that makes it hard to guess just what trees or stumps or even brush pile they are holding on. Time and experience is all that you need to be sucessful on Lake Conway. Crappiepro, Conway, and Myself have got alot of year worth of time and experience on Lake Conway. The best advice I have for anybody when it comes to Lake Conway, is put the time in and be patient with the lake, success will come eventually. It can be frustrating to figure out Lake Conway but once you got it figured out you got it whooped. Being hard headed and not letting Lake Conway get the best of you will lead to your success.
