Nimrod, A High Tunnel is a like a hoop house but has a much taller roof, so you can trap more warm air in the spring and grow your plants earlier and get to the market earlier. You plant directly in the ground. Look it up on the Internet.

Do you do a late planting also? I know some people also use those high tunnels to extend the growing season into the fall.

Yes AgriHawg, I have 250 plants in a 30' x 96' Tunnel, they should start ripening in 2 or 3 weeks and I will pick all the way till November. High Tunnel tomatoes are much better than you normal greenhouse tomato. A Tunnel is nothing more than a garden with a plastic roof and sides to protect it from wind and cold. It's irrigatated so they get just the right amount of moisture.

Isaac was a big disappointment for North Central Ar. only 2.1" rain. But it is much better than a sharp stick in the eye. It is still a Blessing and I am thankful for every single drop.

We got about 2" as well but at least this rain was widespread. Rivers coming up a little bit. Still gonna need some more.
