JW you are a good fisherman and I respect your opinions and knowledge. Yes if you are pleasure fishing and just want to use Jigs... great go ahead I have no doubt you catch good fish. But if you ever want to play in the Big Leagues you better start learning how to use or tip with minnows, If you dont believe me ask Jason N Jim Westerberg/Ar State Champions, Don Blakely, Dennis Bayles. They all will be at camp and I'll bet they would love to tell you about Minnows and if they believe they make a differance in Tourney fishing. R Capps S Coleman will also tell you what they think about minnows also. BRM, Meat, and Myself are just trying to help you out. I know there is still hope for you. You are still young and maybe we (can get to you)... before you get older and become like Nimrod. LMBO Take this gift of Knowledge we are trying to bestoe on you and run with it. We are just trying to help you out cos we know you have great potential in crappie fishing. You taught me some good things in spider rigging one time... now let me help you out. Trust me they bring minnows not to hide the color's of thier jigs...They bring minnows to fish with and win tourney's.

I agree with the minner thing. However if my memory is correct at spring camp, at least big fish #1 a 2.95 and big fish #2 high 2's were caught without minners. My guess is these 2 guys (whoever they were ) knew the water they were fishing and were some pretty dang good fishermen especially to do it with a jig. I do expect the folks who know Lake Nimrod and don't mind drowning a minner are gonna catch some good fish.

JW, do you happen to remember who caught those

I think it is necessary for the "PROs" to fish however they need to and I don't have a problem with that, I just hope I can follow some of them around and see how and where

I'm not say'n minnows won't get more bites at times. I don't fish competatively but here with a limit of 20 and you can catch 50 to 100 with a jig most days. Can't see spending extra cash and hassels of using minnows. I used to troll minnows on canes before most ever heard of spider rigging. I could use 1lb of minners everyday and lose more tackle and still only keep 20 Crappie.

Hey, Killin' em is Killin'em......if you can catch 50-100 everyday without buying and messing with minners it would be crazy to spend the time, money and inconvenience to use minners. The only time David and I purchase minners is if we have got money invested in a tourny entry fee and are interested in at least getting it back. We will then buy a small supple of minners JUST ON THE CHANCE that it is one of those times when "they want a minnow" and nothing else will quite do. I can say for certain that the two biggest tourneys we have won were won without minners. Yes, we bought and had them in the boat and they were the first things we started with but didn't notice a difference those days and we stopped using them. Sometimes the Crappie prefer jigs....might have to go through a double handful of jigs before finding that "one in a hundred" color combo that they just can't resist that particular day. On those days why waste the extra time that your eyes will not be looking at your rods while messing with minners........ like getting an extra thirty minutes of fishing time.....

no difference than putting a minner on a hook or changing jig a hundred time !!!!!!!!!!! not saying jigs don't catch fish spiderrigin ,they do !! but minners are a natural bait and are more of a consist bite!!!! day in and day out. you invest in all the color combo. and brand and styles of different jigs that most fisherman have in there boat i promise you will have spent a lot more than you will on some minners!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you fish with the same bait 99% of the time. I believe more in presentation, speed and depth more than color. i just like purple and chartruse. It works for me and that's what matters. Just like Spanky works for you and Buckwheat works for................oh never mind.

Keep preaching CP but I remember the day when you fished with me and we thumped em in my boat without minners. Hey p.s I am still waiting for a payback trip lol. Who needs minners when you got the minner patch. RCC is correct in Steve and I had the two big fish of the spring camp take minner less. I am beginning to think we can go hookless now Lmbo. I keep telling ya them pros put minners in the boat as a disguise so u dont know what color jig to use cause all the minners look the SAME lol!
