Things started out windy and slow this morning. Didn't get out there till about 8:00 and the wind was already blowing pretty good. Fished a few regular spots and didn't mark any shad and couldn't get on any good fish. Made a move and went shallower and found shad suspending at 3 feet in 6 FOW. Started tipping jigs with "minners" and it was on! Caught a lot of them out away from brush but tight to the shad balls.
Purple/Chart. Umbrella tubes did well as did my usual Pink/Chart. Midsouth tubes but the Lime/Chart. Glow Midsouth on an 1/8 oz. "Green" Chart. Jig head was what they really wanted!
I managed a decent limit about the time I ran out of minnows
.
I had planned on vertical jigging today and didn't take many minnows with me. The bite was fast and furious right up till the last minnow was used. I pushed the same jigs that I had been wearing them out on right thru the same area without the minnows on them and hardly got a bite. Should be a fun Fall Camp!
