Default Crappie structure in a river with current!!!

We fish a flowing river with current the level is never the same it is 7 ft one day 10 ft the next. Trying to put structure in it. We have been reading the posts most of these are for lakes with little to no current. How is the best way to anchor structure to keep the current from washing it out any suggestions. We try to locate them in the backwater out of the current. It has really been hard one day under water next day dry.Hows the best way to anchor in current? The structure we have put old tires, pallets, concrete blocks it works really good if you can keep the structure from washing out really attracts the fish espically crappie. Any sugestions thanks!!!!!

jackie several years ago i gave it a good go in a river up here in nea. had the same problem and just gave up on it. i have since found structure in areas when the water is right i do good in and has natural cover. i put out approx a dozen 5 gallon buckets with bamboo in concrete and the spring flood of 2011 got most all of them. they are best without a doubt in lakes located in good areas. not trying to tell ya to give up but i have in this river an just learned more about where they wanna gather with whats natural etc... i will say this i seen a post a good while back and a guy wast putting a pvc pipe in the middle of his 5 gallon bucket to drive a t-post thru to anchor to bottom which i thought was a good idea. might take that an see what you can make up? hope i helped. good luck

That t post through PVC is a good one. I try to put on the down side of wing dams. Something with a current break so they don't wash out. Heavy wt is also key and keep them small so less area for current to push the structure away. Use multiple sets just smaller in size and larger in wt. for example the stake beds with 7 stakes and one bag of concrete. Low profile 3 ft tall and heavy in the bottom. Put in bends of river on the inside bend as water current is slowest there and fastest on the outer edge. If I use boo place 6-8 pieces per bag of concrete. Kinda like a sail, more sail catches more wind. So keep em small low profile and heavy. Hope this helps.

Sounds Crazy but I use a cable attached to standing timber 3-4' under the surface. After the cable is attached I hook it to the structure and toss it over board.

Put cover , mostly pallet stakebeds with lots of weight. Put them in bends under a bank that will give a current break.
