I hadn't had any time to fish the last couple months do to farming but I encountered this the other day. I was driving around our small lake at the farm an seen a huge snake trying to eat this fish. Needless to say my shotgun done wonders on this snake. The fish well it didn't make it either thought ya'll might want to see this.

That was a huge water moccicine head was as wide as my hand and was over 6th long. Ive killed 2 more just like this one trying to eat catfish.
That's neat a diamond back water snake. When I used to bank fish and keep fish on a stringer I had quiet a few try and eat my Catch.
Glad you took that one out. He wont be eating any more fish or scaring any fishermen.![]()
Awesome pics. I think the snake was going to win that battle.
Plain ole water snake... diamondback water snake, (Nerodia rhombifer). Very non-poisonous.
I still don't like them, and saw the same thing on the fish farm here this spring. They can eat a fish that size without a problem, but it becomes a problem for them since they can't swim that great once they got a 2# fish in thier gut.
You Can Make a Difference!
No matter what kind of snake that was, I call all snakes "Rattlemouth Moccasins". Thank God for shotguns!!!
You got close enought to snap a pic where you can see he has round pupils and then called it a cottonmouth?
