Don't buy cheap tackle, it can cost you fish. Make sure most of all use a quality hook!

Went to Conway today to try out some new jigs i picked up the other day. I should've just left my boat at home cause you can walk across the stumps! Anyway i had plenty of bites but they were either short-strikes or super soft and i didnt realize it until they had already spit it.banghead I had a couple nice ones on but didnt get a good hook set. I ended up with six keepers but missed enough for an easy limit. I know part of the problem is the small hooks on the cheap jigs i've been buying. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm all ears.![]()

A dull hook is worse than a small hook. And after I miss two or three like that, its time to get a sharper hook! I like a #4 or #6 sickle hook myself.
It's ok to buy cheap beer, but never ok to buy cheap tackle. Good quality tackle and equipment is a must have, it is one of the main links between you and your prey. Always buy the best that you can afford.
