Yeah good to help others out with the fish. It's been a while since I was able to do that myself.

Rcc I heard that them gar are good to eat. Never tried em myself but from what I hear they need to be 3 ft to get good meat and clip the back with tin snips as its like armor.

Do you fill out the paperwork when you give them away?I bet you break a law by transferring them dockside.

I wouldn't know the difference between a "he" gar and a "she" gar. Can you check them like you do a 'gator? Don't sniff you finger afterwards!!

Good job ABH. I love to give fish away. I had 9 catfish that I gave to the man that runs the ramp and traded for a cold beer and good conversation. I keep hearing about eating gar and for all us river oxbow fisherman we know they are thick this time of the year and I am mad at them. Mad enough to eat one. I caught so many this week that even Glenn and Mitchell would be proud. All joking aside, I know you can eat them but what size is the best. What do they taste like. I had them from 16" to 6' and lost 1/2 a dozen jigs I have to get even.

3' or larger, the only good meat is the back strap like the loin on a deer. Cube it, fry it, eat it fresh. No so good if it cools off.
