Default Where to go in August

We'll be driving to Arkansas in August for our summer vacation. We'll be taking our pop up, but haven't decided where to go yet. I know we'll be at Crater of Diamonds SP for our 0 year old daughter's sake, but that's just a day or two. Where would be a good place to find cooler weather and good fishing. I have no boat, but am contiplating taking my inflatable pontoon. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cooler weather in august in Arkansas can be found just slightly north in Northwest Territories, Canada. But only the northern part.

I'm sure there is a reason for August, but I've never known what it is. I plan on driving way, WAY west with the wifey for vacation.....

Good luck. These guys here can seemingly catch fish anywhere, any time, regardless of weather, but good luck on getting 'em to give you GPS Coordinates. :D :D

    P.S.
If you are at Murfreesboro already, you might try Dierks, Gillham, or even Millwood. Ouachita, Greeson, Degray all have motorized mosquitoes like Seadoos......

That murfreesboro area has the trouts if you into that sorta thing. "Indian say trout fun to catch but strong to eat and many small bones".
The Buffalo river would probably be good for some summer wading and small mouth fishing. Due to size restrictions and fishing pressure + slower growth rates of the hard pulling smallies catching supper won't be as easy unless you find somewhere back to your self but those goggle eyed perch aren't bad either and they get big enough to eat.

I guess I should add that I'm driving from Austin Texas, so "cooler weather" is relative. As long as it's cooler than here, we're ok.

I would go to Little Red below Greers Ferry , White River, or Spring River. They have cooloer water and it will be hot in August. Some of the feeder creeks and Spring River have fish along with the Trout.

What they said about the Little Red, 50-60 degree water will feel good in August.

It won't be, at least not enough to tell any perceivable difference.

Since you are going to be bank or small boat fishing one of the rivers is probably going to be your best choice.
