Default My ears are open to suggestion.

Im trying to build up a new crappie club from Memphis and not getting a big responce so far. Have Held one tournament at Daccus had folks post it was a gar hole but everytime i go there i catch between 30-60 on average. But anyways I figured that this should be the place to find the diehard fishermen like myself but i still haven,t got the responce im looking for? Can any one tell me why? Is my tournament not enough money? Its just a $30 entry i did that because of the ecconamy and gas prices where everyone could afford it. Any suggestions? My ears are yours. If there were more tournaments fairly local i would just go fish them and not worry with this. I figured the local guys would eat this up????? 901-461-5159 Cause i really hate typing. lol

Thomas it's very hard to start a club, it will take alot of effort on the computer. I think the lakes you pick to have a trounament is the most important issue.
Like you say, it cost to much to pull a boat way off somewhere. I don't think there are that many good crappie lakes real close to Memphis, maybe Arkabutla, and Horseshoe, Tunica and thats about it.
Lakeview is no more I heard, so you are limited, but those should be good enough I would think.
Anyway don't give on it, keep posting....good luck.

We used to talk about a club in Central Arkansas about 6 years ago. We are closer knit now than we were back then with no club. The camps seemed to have pulled us all closer than a club would. Life keeps me from joining anything or planning down the road too far. I gots lots of stuff happening that could change and need some attention at a moments notice. Can't say about anyone else.

I like the idea of having Crappie Camps ,Spring and Fall, and always have contests and tournaments at each event.

I'm right across the river, and there are lots of good crappie lakes to have a Fruit Jar style tournament on. You need to have a meeting at some point so the interested parties can meet each other and help promote the club. I think it will fly, and there are a bunch of good fishermen and women in and around Memphis, East AR, and N. MS!!!!

I will do whatever i need to do to get this going. As long as its legal. lol I,m game for a meeting if i can get some folks replying to my post to show that people are interested. And as far as the one reply about the money, most folks wont come for free so i just made it a cheep entry fee and you don,t have to be a member or fish every tournament and there are no dues to pay to fish with us just your entry and we pay back 100% of what we take in. I don,t think anyone else will get out of bed at 3;30 to put these on for free or at least i haven,t seen a club do that.

Personally, I work "shift work" and every other weekend. I hardly ever fish weekends because most of my days off are during the week. So it doesn't really work for me. Good luck though, there are some great people on this site!

I only live an hour from Memphis and have to come that way to find a good "mud hole" to fish in. I got your number and will give you a call. I would be interested in fishing some of the tournaments.

By the way, when's the last time you been to Dacus? I was told no one was allowed to fish there anymore. I'll fish it this weekend if the ramp is open to the public.

why ruin a good fishing trip by involving competition? Why put pressure into the equation? You want competition take up golf. Or bass fishing.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
