    Default Gaspergoo

I caught a 15 lb. Drum today trolling a crankbait at Lake Maumelle. I've read that the drums otoliths, (ear bones) look similar to pearls and some people collect them. Can anyone tell me how to extract these ear bones.

They look like rocks to me. Cut head off just behind the eyes and look for them in center. They are in a cavitity and fit close together.

I've heard that each rock has a number on it 1 through 8. If you can catch a whole set, you win the lottery or something.

Anyone else ever heard of the rocks being numbered?
