    Default Patterning the bite.

I've been working on becoming better at patterning the fish. Here is what I figured out today.

Fish were spawned out and holding in 3 to 30ft of water. The bite was on minnows, jigs tipped with minnows, jigs, road runners fished fast and slow, trolling and single poling. The hot colors were chartreuse, pink, purple, black, and popsicle.

Everyone I talked to said I shoulda been there last week.

    Here's the useful information:

If you use the Lindy 2 hook "Capps and Coleman" rigs, check for line wear just below the weight. Had 2 to break off today in the same place. Maybe that's why they were on sale cheaper than you could make them yourself.

Nimrod. Had one of those 1/8 sickles that I tie on to break on me today. Fortunately it was on a hang up and not a fish. I know that they aren't the same quality as the Matzuo. I think it's EBAY trying to keep a fisherman down.

Thats a tuff pattern to use,,but next time I go fishing, (haven't been in days) I'll put to good use your findings.
I am thinking of takeing up golf, that way, you get to beat the little ball with the big stick, exactly how I felt the last few times I went out...I am working on a top secret jig right now that has a mini battery and a kilediscope of colors. Its still in the reckoning stage and NOT one word about my speeeling

I was in the mood to beat something with a stick after today. You say those golfs don't mind getting beat on. I could get into that if it wasn't so easy of a game. I like a challenge so I'll stick with fishing.

Hey RCC , the pattern here for my fishing is well there ain't one. I've tried every thing from 2 to 15' of water , stumps, stakebeds, bamboo, brush , and looked for suspended fish. I have figured out that till things change the pattern is to stay home and mow grass.banghead When it takes all day to catch 20 small keepers (10 - 13'' mostly 10'' Crappie), a bunch of dinks and baby Green Carp then it's too durn slow.

That's a typical post-spawn pattern RCC. We use it every spring down here! And like Nimrod said, if that don't work we go back to mowing grass!

Maybe you don't carry enough poles. I keep 9 in my boat. I might drag some cranks or jigs, maybe I will cast a slip cork, maybe they want untra lights on a particular day. Don't forget to have a jig pole or two for tight lining. It does get confusing trying to figure it out. And, you always worry that you ain't using the right pole.

you should be staying home working on my paddle instead of going fishing and getting so frustrated. i think your "frame of mind" would be better too.
