    Default Out-of-Stater, Need Help

    Hey everyone,

I live in Eastern Iowa and my grandparents are moving down to Arkansas to retire. We are big Crappie fishermen and I was wondering if any of you could help us out. We're looking for a couple of good lakes/rivers/reservoirs to fish near Hot Springs Village. If yall could help it'd be much appreciated. We also do a lot of Walleye fishing so if you have any advice to share on that I'd be all ears. Thanks guys.

Lake Ouachita is your best closest bet for both. lake Catherine and Hamilton also have walleye in them but the crappie probably isn't as good as Ouachita. About an hour north is Lake Nimrod and can produce a good mess of fish. Also 2 hours southwest is Lake Greeson, its excellant for crappie. (www.actionfishingtrips.com, Jerry Blake) Worth the money to go fish with him. 1 and half hours to Lake Maumelle, it is pretty good for crappie and not sure about the walleye there. Go to the AGFC web site and check out the interactive maps for crappie condo locations on Ouachita, Hamilton and Greeson.

Thanks for the advice guys! So far we've heard a lot of good things from locals about Lake Ouachita. Unfortunately I will not be down until July. How do y'all do in July?
