Couple buddies of mine fished it last week. They said the crappie weren't really shallow just yet but I bet that is changing already. By the end of the month I would expect the biggest portion of the spawn to be over too. Not having a fish finder is going to make things difficult but there are literally hundreds of brush piles in that lake and the crappie will be around them somewhere. This might sound silly but I think if I was going there and couldn't use a fish finder I would tie a deep diving crankbait on a bait caster with the hooks removed. I'd cast it around likely brush pile holding areas and once I felt the brush I'd pick up my crappie pole and go to work. Otherwise, I don't know how your gonna find fish cover unless you can remember some spots from your trip with Jerry. However, the brush you fished on new years day was probably pretty deep and may not be very productive this time of year. Good luck.

It is going to be tough without a depth finder. The fish should be way up Self Creek in 10 to 15 feet. There is some considerable brush by the islands. Or I would go up the river from Self Creek landing to some islands on the right. Brush should be easier to find there. I don't think Jerry would be too bashful with advice either.
    Good Luck
