Might depend on what your fishing for and where. In tight cover, clear water, type of fish etc. I like all for different types and conditions. But the tried and true mono is my favorite.

braid for me if you're spin castin a jig and cork.

Longpolole tight linin I like mono mainly because you often fight tangles and the braid seems to be harded to untangle.

Like was said before, there's a time and place for all of it. I like braid, with a leader in either mono, or floro, or a good co polymer. I like the Silver Thread AN-40 in silver. It has a smaller diameter per poundage.

I keep it simple.....fluorocarbon for everything. Got too many wind knots in the braid so I chunked it!

I've had my share of wind knots when fly fishing, but how in the world do you get a wind knot casting??? I use braid on a couple of my rods, but I never had a wind knot on conventional gear. Had some tangles that were as bad as wind knots though.
