    Default Prespawn on Conway?

Just started fishing Lake Conway and was curious where to start on a Lake that has so much cover. I'm not asking for anyones honeyhole .But if someone could just point me in the right direction! Also are there any color jigs that work well on Conway! Just moved here and am used to fishing deep and clear water. Any help would be much appreciated!

1st of all, welcome to the forum from Jonesboro. I noticed it is your first post and all ready asking that important question. Let us know a little about you, were you fish, how you fish. There are a lot of guys down there that have great info on the lake. Sometimes you have to work your way into it. CP is full of info. Just keep a eye out for his posts.

Welcome to C.C. There are some resident pros down that way that do good on Conway. For me, I haven't got the crappie figured out there either. The inlaws live on the lake and can get them from time to time. Conway is blue gill heaven, and it won't be long till they'll be doing their thang.

The have caught in the past by casting a crappie stinger under a float. I'm not sure of the color. It looked almost clear.

The Gold Creek and Caney Creek areas are good places for people that don't know the lake yet. In both creeks the fish seem to be heading to the main lake, have seen a few boats picking up fish in the shallow flats already.

Welcome To the Site...Search and read my post, I have given away many tips to help folks out on here. The best over all tip I can give people on here to fish Lake Conway is look at the lake what do you see? 100's of Trees, logs, docks. Creeks that will produce from Late Sept through March. After that take your battle to the main lake. Get a long pole and a casting pole with Jig/Minnow and bobber and get out there and start fishing them. It may take you a few trips but if you stick with it you will start to learn and get thumped. This is how I learned and if you do the same I’m sure you will to.

    ron jr welcome to CC...

Lake Conway will be so different that deep clear water you fished vs this shallow and stained monster. As CP stated...the trees out in the middle of main lake in tight groups is a good place to start. Average depth is 5'. They might be right on the bottom around the base cypress knees. Then I work up shallower. I have used Tube Jigs for years there with Black and Chartruse with Red head 1/16 oz being the best Spring color for me. Also try at the end of docks...but watch out for the brush piles folks throw out. This same black and Char Jig WILL catch Nice Bluegills / Redears around the docks and banks when water temp reaches 60-65. The 89 bridge at that creek channel used to be great...I still catch them around there.

I think I like this lake better in the Fall (October) for crappie...cause they run up all the creek channels chasing shad. Easy to find then.....but Spring time they spread out in main lake to spawn around the trees...and some around docks.
