Has anybody experianced the crappie moving shallow, acting like they are searching for spawning grounds anywhere yet? With the really mild winter I have been continuously catching crappie in relatively shallow water, two foot or less. Water temps have been in the low fifties now for quite some time.

I think ya'll may be crowding the season, the water temp day before yesterday on my home lake was 41 degrees...maybe the oxbows...
IMO, they are not ready to spawn, too early. I think they are going shallow for warmer water but not staying shallow all day

44 deg on Saturday here. A few fish had some small eggs. Or maybe it was a small fish had a few eggs, I don't remember.
The crappie on Conway have had rather large egg sacks, they ain't bloody and they ain't separated, however they are big egg sacks. I ain't saying they are ready, I am saying they are looking around.
