Default If I was a crappie today

I'd crawl up under a pile of brush and wouldn't move the rest of the day!
I may try Greeson out on Wednesday though. After we drove over it yesterday it looked right

If I was a crappie I'd be looking for some warm grease lol. It's looking like another wet day Wednesday. If it ain't raining I'll be on the river.

Yeah supposed to rain Wednesday but not supposed to be nearly as cold. A warm rain I can handle.

I caught one the other day and the guy next to me said that it was looking for somewhere warm to get. I said where he was going it might be warmer than he wants!

If I were a crappie I would be in 25-35 feet deep waiting on CrappiePro's spider rig set up to pass over me. HAHA!!! Its gonna happen in two days weather permitting got a good report on a little known lake., should be exciting.

Hey CP, How are you rigging you're spiderrig? I know that you like to jig with 1/32. Do you use 2 baits?

I use 1/4 to 1/2 oz egg sinkers held up the line by a split shot or a swivel with a leader., 12-24 inches above a 1/16-1/8th oz jig. Most times i use just one bait, but i also have started using a double minnow rig on one or two of my poles just to keep them honest. I use the basic Capps and Coleman type of set up for a double minnow rig. The double minnow rig is a three way swivel... with about a 10 inch leader going to the top hook or jig head,,,, about a 2-3 foot leader running down from the bottom eye of the swivel to another hook and jig... and a fixed egg sinker on the leader running about halfway from the threeway swivel to the bottom bait. This rig is deadly on em Slabbandit and I will have some with me when ever im spider rigging. I always tip with nibbles or minnows.

I always liked the idea of having your heavy weight below your bait, kinda like a drop shot rig. It allows you to tic the brush without snaging the brush. It also alerts the fish to come on out and see what's offered on your hook. If there is heavy cover which I've been hanging in it's a great way to save jigs/hooks and still catch the fish.

I like the drop shot Ideal too, do you spider rig with it? and do you just allow the sinker to bounce along the bottom when you use it? Just curious? Har far up from the hook do you set ur first bait?
