I don't have to limit out to be happy, and in my humble opinion, there's more to fishing than catching. I think we all have a competitive side that tempts us to be the best we can be, catch bigger and more than Joe Blow, but its not what keeps me going back to the lake.

The catch and release is not all its cracked up to be either, many fish every day are released that should have been kept, hooked to deep,,etc. And pulling one from 35 ft of water most assuredly injurys that fish...I have had their eyes pop out from the pressure I assume.

I have no idea what the point of this thread is, always, there will be those who catch more and bigger, most of the time, its because they have worked harder at the game, devoted more time to the sport, have better equipment, the list goes on and on. As long as a game law is not violated, they have my blessings. I try desperately hard not to condemn anyman his version of catching, be it a cane pole on the bank, or a $50,000.00 boat with another $10,000.00 worth of electronics on board and the knowledge to use them.

I'm going fishing now, if I catch a limit, I'll be tickled to death, if not, I'll still be a happy camper, because out there, I'm more one with nature, I can see and feel the good lords hand in the surroundings.

Great post. There are many, many reasons & ways to go fishing and they are all good ones. Personally I'm a rod in my hand fisher but if hanging 8 poles off the front of your boat in a multi-rod holder is your thing then go for it. As long as your not breaking the game laws on Greers Ferry Lake than I have no problem with you or your method of choice.

Thanks SlabBandit, When I hit the water my goals are first and foremost is to have a good time and enjoy the act of fishing either by myself or the partner im fishing with and to be happy with what the Good Lord provided me with any given day. LOL My second Goal is to find the biggest baddest limit of crappie I can find and to catch a limit of them and share the experience with you all. You all can be assured I will give as much info about how I caught the fish as possible, sometimes however I am gave info on spots that my buddy has asked me not to post on the site. If I am given Information on a spot I ask how much info do you want me to post and I try my best to keep what my buddys wants under my hat. As far as bragging... we brag (I call it sharing) everytime we post about the products we use or sell, the fish we catch, (for those of us that do go out and fish and post pics), and our accomplishments. When I posted 23 Limits In A Row my intentions were first and foremost to show how good a fishing spot was at a given time, in case someone else wanted to try that spot...Which I know some of you did and caught fish, and yes to brag a little. So Nimrod I hope you catch that 100th limit in a row and I will be the first to reach out and shake your hand and say Good Job CA!!! It just amazes me how some people get jealous and/or appear to be jealous of others with thier rude comments on the site, and without even ever meeting the man behind the keyboard. WOW...and Well said XRING

Very well said X-Ring, I did not intend this post to be a personal attack on anyone and if taken that way I apologize. I just don't believe that any crappie fisherman should be looked down at just because they didn't catch their "limit" or they prefer to hear the zip of a yo-yo going off or love to spiderrig with 8 poles out. The "limit" is the limit and I don't see what difference it makes how you catch them as long as they obey the law. If a person prefers "nibbles" or minnows so what.
Sure, when I was working in Little Rock and driving 3 hours a day, I didn't have much available time to fish and I did ask NIMROD for a bag of crappie because we were "crappie hungry". He didn't hesitate to help us out.
I know several people who don't post much just because they don't get their limit when they go out. I see several new posters here today that confirm what I'm talking about. I want to see pics of everyones outings even if you didn't catch but a few. That's what this place is all about, to meet other crappie fishermen and learn different techniques used around the country.

    Good Luck and be safe,
    Dave

The local lake I fish apparently doesn't produce a lot of big fish, neither does it produce limits everyday either. I try to do the best I can fishing it and if I catch a limit of 30, 9 to 11 inch fish I am tickled. If I ever catch the 2 lber, even if it's the only fish in the cooler for the day, I'll be tickled. I figure each day on the water has something to offer. Somedays it may not be fish at all. I go to the lake each day with the intention of catching a limit of big ones. If it doesn't work out, I take what the lake has to offer. It's all good.

i agree with every one just about on this topic. i just enjoy being out on the water either with a friend or just by myself .i have been fishing ever since i been old enough to hold a jig pole. its not some of us is a lot better fisherman than others, its the amount of time that we have been blessed with to be on the water and fish some great waterway!!! experience is time and thats what make some more successful on the water and catching a limit !! sure ever time i go i try to catch limit but if i dont i will try again next time and i give away more fish than i keep !! i really enjoy to take someone that love to fish and does not get to go as often as some of us do and give them a few pointers to make them more successful ! i tell all of the newer fisherman to learn one thing ever time they go then before long they will be catching limits!!!!!!!!!!!!

Xring said it better than I could have, What I consider a limit is when my A-- is frozen stiff and my teeth are chattering or I am give completely out and after I passed 68 that comes sooner rather than later. However many fish is in my bucket when I freeze out , burn out or give out is my limit. Because I fish almost everyday, a limit is not that important to me cuz I have more than enough fish to eat anytime I want them. I am perfectly happy with 8 or 10 good keepers but happier with 20. I always thought that bragging was as much a part of fishing as a can of worms so if you catch one limit in a row or 100 limits, post it, I love to read about it.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

If that's the case our limit Saturday was TWO fish!! If the wind hadn't been blowing so hard we would have gone to the bank to build a fire around 9:00...LOL. At 6:00 yesterday evening David said he was still numb from the knees down!!
