I'm doing a real upgrade: going from none to a DI.

Does that model have a sd card slot? That is the easiest way to show glare free pics.

Also, here is a solution that solves the glare. Typically, glare is because of anything on the screen, water drops, fingerprints will make this 10X worse. If the screen is clean, less glare.

Go here, and buy the 2 items listed. They are dirt cheap, but make a HUGE difference. Do not go on ebay and buy a custom screen cover, buy the iPad2 cover below, use a razor blade, and odds are you can make 2-4 covers for less than 2 bux. I think China-Mart sells something similiar, but from what I have seen, it is not of high quality, and kinda pricey for what it is.

Let me add this as well, the cleaning kit is the only thing I use on laptops, iPads, Cells, regular lcd monitors, heck any kind of screen including tv's. I run a network with over 750 devices and this is all I use. The key is shake the heck outta it so the oils will mix good. Yes I said oil, thats why you never use any product with alchohol to clean glass. (Like Windex, /shrug) Alchohol dries a screen out, the slight oil keeps it conditioned. It is a cleaner and protector. Oh and by the way, this is the BEST product I have ever found for tinted windows in your vehicle.

I listed 2 versions of the cleaner, pick which will suit your needs overall. I like the small one in a Ziploc stashed on the boat. BTW, there is a youtube video showing how to apply the protector. If you have never done one, watch it, till ya have done a few, bubbles can be an issue.

One more note, check that site out, they have the best prices on all their products by far. Noone is even close to them. We spend 5-6k a year with them.

iPad Protective screen (These sell for $20-$30 each local)

For only $1.01 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Screen Protective Film w/ High Transparency Finish for iPad 2 | iPad 2 Screen Protectors

    2 types of screen cleaners.

For only $3.63 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Universal Screen Cleaner (Large bottle w/ brush) for LCD & Plasmas TV, iPads, iPhones, Galaxy Tabs, and smartphones | Cleaning Kits for LCD/Plasma TV & Monitor

For only $7.11 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Premium Screen Cleaning Kit w/ Tools for LCD & Plasma Displays | Cleaning Kits for LCD/Plasma TV & Monitor

    Hopefully someone found this informative.

I use the Humminbird 898si on the console atm as I couldnt afford the 1198si after purchasing the Predator last year. I am adding the 1198si to the back, and moving the 898si to the front this year. (actually thinking the other way around as I am in the front more than rear) Noone told me after spending 20k on a boat that the actual accessories would hurt the pocket.

I also have the AS RSL Humminbird Wireless Sonar Link with 2 Smartcast modules that allow the bird to read the transducer attached to a fishing line to be cast and check depths and fish in areas you cannot go in. This is amazing when your running the border of the dams on the river. Problem is, the 790, 990, and 1190 series are the only ones that will read em. Sitting on $100 worth a stuff for a year never been able to use. LOL Cant wait for 1198 next month!

I have the Cannonlink as well. Which will run downriggers. If say your on Greers or Ouachita and you've got baits at 100 foot, and the depth comes up to 60 fast, it will pull the baits up before they hit it automatically. This is great for chasing Hybrids and Stripers in the summer. It can run up to 6.

I also heard that if you install 2 transducers, on 2 units with the ethernet link (which I already have) that the top speed they read accurately goes from 7mph to 50mph. This is conflicting info, if anyone knows, I sure would like confirmation.

I have the VC1 cable which is awesome as it allows you to take the unit from the boat, and plug it into your tv and see MUCH more that a small screen could ever show. Couple this with the AS PC2 which allows your computer to show all the information, and plot trips in advance, the Humminbird is far superior to any out. If you can afford one, (or not) GET IT. It is amazing.

I can actually show you everywhere I have gone, on any water, and some of the amazing footage from these trips at any given time due to the SD CARD storage.

If you have any questions, ask away!

What is the ethernet? I tried looking at the Humminbird website, but never figured it out.

Humminbird's site is messed up at the moment so I cannot send a link there, but here is where I bought mine. United Outdoors has some of the best prices out there for HBird.

Basically, if you have 2 units, and 2 transducers, they share information making the imaging much better and accurate. Also takes away the need for multiple Barometric Pressure sensors, GPS, Weathersense, etc. as they share all information between them.

Nah... You need on water. They ain't that hard. I have seen some of the most amazing images on Greer's. Literally from 20' to 100' instant and boulders at that depth. My wife constantly said " Why the hell did you waste $1700 on a depth finder" .... I can't tell you how many times on Greer's I said "That's why... That's why!" More importantly, shallow water. The side imaging can be adjusted. I have seen down trees 20'-30' off the side, spun around, and wore em out. Today's technology is the ol' school killer. Techniques change, presentation changes, seeing them lie down pre-spawn = win. I am getting an 1198si to compliment my 898si next month, and I promise, she won't say $hit. She knows. She agrees.

If you need more help my friend, hit me up, we can take a tour.
