    Default Question, I'm Stumped?????

I have finally been able to put my boat in the water in the past week. I have been 4-5 times in the past week and a half. All I have been able to catch is alot of dinks. They are fun to catch and I enjoy it but I am ready for some fresh filets. I have been fishing tops in creeks and back water off the Ouchita and Saline Rivers. I don't do any trolling or spider rigging because I don't have the equipment. Just me and my jig pole. Is there any advice you guys can offer about catching crappie this time of year without trolling. I should also add that the corps of engineers is dropping the river really really fast right now. Could that also be part of the problem??

you dont have to troll to catch fish this time of year you just have to find the pattern sounds like your fishing the right places , but a fast drop in the water level makes a tough bit !!!! you might try some deeper cover and just a few in. of the bottom with very little movement of your jig. but i think when the water stabilizes the bite will pick up!!!!!

Go to a lake where they are biting better. These guys travel for their fish when they have to. LOL

Try the arkansas river. I've been doing well there all week. Deeper is better.

I don't know where you live , but I have been hearing good reports from Chicot. Up Connerly Bayou. You will have to cull there but with 20 over 10 inches the filets should feed quite a few folks.
Always remember that my favorite jig is the one they are biting

Im not sure where you are fishing on the rivers but Ballwashout used to produce some slabs. Jones lake should be getting hot. This time of year I used to catch mainly dinks in wildcat and Shallow lake. Keep in mind that the barpits will hold some slabs in the deep holes and in the creeks. If you ever get below lock 6 the old river bed around the rockpile can be a slab haven. Good luck
