Beautiful pics of your son and those monster slabs. That first one of him on the bucket would be an awesome picture for the Crappie.com calendar. I hope that next year that you think about submitting that pic for the calendar. That's my choice for the cover!!
CATCH A BIG-UN
Shallow back type water lakes seem to be the best over those deep dead sea type lakes. Always thought that when I was bass fishing and now I'm seeing it with the crappie too. I guess less places for them to hide in shallow water lakes.
here was some more cadron pigs that my boy caught. i think he caught 7 and a bream and i had 13. the smallest we caught that day was 17 1/4".

the part of the cadron that i usually fish is near wooster. there is a boat launch at shaw bridge and one on hwy 25 between conway and wooster. i dont use the shaw bridge ramp due to the thefts that take place there. i also sometimes launch at the cadron settlement park on the arkansas river and head upstream to the confluence of the arkansas river and the cadron creek.
there are 2 forks- the cadron and the east fork of the cadron. shaw bridge is on the cadron and the hwy 25 ramp is on the east fork. the 2 forks meet about halfway between the hwy 25 ramp and shaw bridge. the creek originates near heber springs and more of a typical ozark stream , but when you get down towards wooster the creek travels along rice fields and bottom land where the creek gets a little deeper and the bottom and the banks are mud instead of rock. i would say that from hy 25 to the confluence the river averages 6ft and from shaw bridge to the confluence is probably 10-12 foot. there is about 25 - 30 foot of water at the confluence. from there to the ar river it runs anywhere from 12 foot up to some 20 and 30 foot deep holes the closer you get to the river. the depth is quickly changed by rain fall or from the ar river backing up. creek has mud bottom, lots of log jams and stumps. a few small secondary creeks.
